Every now and then I'm reminded that I have students who don't believe I've been teaching longer than YouTube's been a thing.

They know I'm old, they just think YouTube has just always been there.

Like the internet.


"So no one made videos?"

"Sure we did, but they were really small and we put them on our own websites."

"So how did you get subscribers?"

"We didn't. I mean, eventually there was RSS, but this was in the before times."
