Torn between not wanting any algorithms to track what I like on one hand, and just wanting them to actually /work/ on the other.

So many businesses are supposed to know everything about me by now. At some point their idea of what they think I like should overlap at least a little bit with the things I actually like.

But then, it's not really about serving me, is it? It's about serving the people who are giving those businesses money.
