Computer Lab goals for this year:

1. Replace all the 11 year old computers in the other tech teacher's room with the 6 year old or newer computers from my room and/or elsewhere.

2. Install lxqt Linux on everything older than 6 years. (And possibly the 6 yr old ones, too.)

3. Replace 11 year old computers with Raspberry Pi 4, unused computers I have sitting around at home, and donated computers.

4. Move the antiquities to the "Internet Cafe" that my Principal wants set up near the cafeteria.

Computer Lab goals for this year:

I am amused that I've no need to install Linux on our computers from 2016, because for those I provided a specific set of minimum specs which meant I got fewer purchases but they still edit video like a dream. Only downside is they're running Win7 so they'll need to be reimaged soonish.

Computer Lab goals for this year:

Today I put Debian on four of my computers of various ages to bring in for school use. There's really no reason to leave them collecting dust at home when I can make them be useful.

Granted, one of them's a 10(?) year old netbook so "useful" is a debatable term. It runs, and could be used in a pinch, but I'll likely be donating it to the school's Internet Cafe rather than using it in class.

Computer Lab goals for this year:

None of these computers were new. The newest of the lot was purchased on clearance in 2014.

That said, most of them were bought with playing video games and editing video in mind so they've held up pretty well. Two of the four will likely still manage editing HD video, with a third probably able to manage on a good day.

Progress is being made.
