@theartguy yes! Give them a writing prompt they are actually interested in, show enthusiasm and support for their imagination, and let the magic happen.

@theartguy that's exactly why I volunteer for an organization that does creative writing workshops for kids. Their writing is absolutely glorious.

@theartguy Nice technique. I ran a Blue Planet campaign for a homeschooler group years ago, and the kids had to write essays and research reports to gain new skills for their characters. They learned how to do research and write a decent report within just a few game sessions.

Marriott discloses massive data breach affecting up to 500 million guests

“The breach included names, email addresses, passport numbers and payment information, according to the hotel giant.”

In other words, everything you need to steal an identity. Why was all this data retained to begin with? #GDPR

The baker watched as the princess disguised in rags slowly grasped the concept of commerce and the value of coin.
"I'm sorry, I must have had a moment of addlement. How else can I pay you for the bread I gave away?"

The baker was surprised the princess didn't drop her act.
"Can you bake?"

"Alright; here's a club. I need you to kill at least fifteen rats in my basement."

The princess gulped and nervously accepted her first quest.

Something under my foot rolled. A bottle, covered in dust and debris, with a note inside.
"I gave this bottle to the tide here," it said, and a hand drawn map of Europe with an X on the coast.
I looked up at Earth, hanging in the sky above me. How did this get here to the Moon?

For my Club, my students had to write in-character diary entries.

Privacy concerns prevent me from sharing them, but they are glorious, I assure you.

Kids don't hate writing. They just need the right motivations.

Ladies, if he:

-never responds to your texts
-goes out of his way to make you feel bad
-multiplies rapidly at temperatures between 68 and 104 degrees

He's not your man. He's a foodborne pathogen.

Hey hey hey

Friendly reminder that my dear @noelle needs help ($) this month. If you have a dollar to spare, please consider helping out.

Today I ran an 8 hour PD, then changed rooms for a 4 hour after school PD.

All the :blobcoffee:

The first 4 I knew...but #5 is new to me. Good tip for searching based on geography. For example, how is the grey cup covered in the UK? site:UK "grey cup"

it amuses me that both blogspot and wordpress have URL hacks that allows you to bypass whatever strange things people have done to their blogs and read 'em in a glorious uniform fashion

sure, sure, individuality and personal expression
but also universal legibility

(When I first opened it I thought the shelf was lined with gray felt, until my dad suggested taking a vacuum cleaner to it. It wasn't felt. It was REALLY NOT felt.)

My parents dropped off my grandfather's desk today. The interior shelf had 4 decades (at LEAST) of dust inside of it.

The top needs some TLC, but it's a nice desk.

It will not be used to stack monitors. I intend to USE this desk for something more than just another storage rack.

My cat is so terrified of sneezes that any time I make a sharp intake of breath he bolts across the apartment.

I'm sorry, little guy...
