subtoot, income, employment
I want enough of an income so I can hire all my friends to do the things they already like to do.
(I contribute to Patreons, etc, but I'm talking LIVING WAGE money here, which is a different set of numbers altogether.)
That, and/or I want a house large enough for them to be able to visit for any unspecified length of time that they want and/or need.
Alas, I am on a teacher's salary and my side projects are not designed to be profitable.
I may have found the perfect tie to wear to our Film Festival Awards Ceremony.
Meta, Masto vs. Twitter, cont.
I have considered paying for a mastohost instance geared specifically towards K-12 teachers in an "If you build it they will come" scenario, but then I'd have to be the admin.
I've been an admin before. I've been a guild master before, on more than one occasion, and it's a very similar thing.
I don't think I have the spoons to do that. Those spoons may have been permanently melted down.
So I just sit here, lamenting that someone else hasn't done the work for me.
Meta, Masto vs. Twitter
I love almost everything about Mastodon that makes it not like Twitter, I really do.
In spite of using the tools provided to try to find more K-12 teachers in the fediverse, I've mostly come up empty.
Yes, scholar.social exists, and it is good, but its population is (grad)college-centric and that isn't the personalized learning network I'm aiming to build with this account.
On Twitter, K-12 teachers were among the early adopters of the platform.
"Here is the most fundamental rule of film criticism: A movie is not about what it is about, but about how it is about it. The subject does not and cannot make a movie good or bad. Only the style, the approach, the method, the craftsmanship, the purpose and the message can make a movie good or bad." - Roger Ebert
uspol, nazi, Twitter
I shouldn't be able to sum up most of the good things about Mastodon by saying "It's not Twitter," but here we are.
Why Won’t Twitter Treat White Supremacy Like ISIS? Because It Would Mean Banning Some Republican Politicians Too.
After all this time I still find my PICO-8 implementation of Flying Toasters really soothing: https://noelle.codes/toasters.html
Found a cool idea for an "On Air" sign on Instructibles that I could make with my Cricut.
Guy offers the plans for free ... if you join his Facebook group.
Oh, well, looks like I get to have more ownership of my final design, then, as there's no way I'm dealing with FB any more.
I'm off to see if I can buy some cheap LEDs for the internals, now.
Catapult Lesson Plan
It's not a trebuchet, but it'll do.
